Dolmades - Stuffed Grape Leaves

Ingredients

- 1 (16 ounce) jar grape leaves, packed in brine
- 1 1/2 lbs ground lamb
- 1/2 cup uncooked rice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt
- pepper
- lemon wedge
Recipe
- 1 mix all ingredients well in a bowl except for grape leaves.
- 2 wrap 1 tablespoon of meat mixture in 2 grape leaves. wrap so it resembles a small cigar.
- 3 continue until all meat mixture is used.
- 4 pack stuffed grape leaves into the bottom of a pot. multiple layers if needed.
- 5 cover the layers of stuffed grape leaves with any unused leaves spread over the top.
- 6 add water to cover over ½ inches above grape leaves.
- 7 place plate upside down over the leaves to weigh them down.
- 8 cover pot with its lid.
- 9 boil for 30 to 45 minutes.
- 10 remove stuffed grape leaves with tongs.
- 11 serve with lemon wedges.
