Gnocchi Romaine ( Semolina)

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 500 ml milk
  • 100 g semolina
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 25 g parmesan cheese
  • 25 g butter
  • nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pepper

Recipe

  • 1 mix the semolina, salt and milk, place in a thick bottomed pan and stirring continously bring to the boil and simmer 5- 10 minutes until thick.
  • 2 remove from heat, season , add the egg yolk, cheese and butter. mix.
  • 3 while still hot, pour in a buttered tray 1 cm deep .
  • 4 when cold, cut rounds with a 5 cm round cutter.
  • 5 place the remainind gnocchi pieces on the bottom of a buttered earthenware dish and arrange the neat rounds on top.
  • 6 sprinkle more cheese on the gnocchi and grill the top until lightly brown.
  • 7 serve with a nice drizzle of tomato sauce round the gnocchi.
