Frumenty

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup wheat, whole grain
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or 1 tablespoon honey
  • raisins (optional)
  • stewed fruit (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 in a large pot bring the water to the boil then add the wheat.
  • 2 simmer until the wheat is soft enough to eat.
  • 3 next morning add the milk (or the mixture of milk and cream) and the brown sugar or honey.
  • 4 warm it up on the stove for a few minutes, stirring well, and then serve with dried or stewed fruit.
