Garithes Me Ouzo: Flambéd Prawns With Ouzo

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 5 prawns, 1/4 pound each
  • 1 cup carrot, coarsely grated
  • 1 cup zucchini, coarsely grated
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons ouzo
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 lemon
  • sea salt, to taste
  • fresh ground pepper, to taste

Recipe

  • 1 clean and devein the prawns, leaving the head and tail intact.
  • 2 in a heavy frying pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the prawns for 3 minutes. add carrots and zucchini and continue to sauté for 2 minutes more.
  • 3 add the ouzo and light it.
  • 4 when the flames go out, immediately add the cream, salt, and pepper.
  • 5 stir until the sauce is blended and thickened.
  • 6 remove from the heat .
  • 7 season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • 8 squeeze fresh lemon juice over top prior to serving, if desired.
  • 9 serve hot over pasta with a nice green salad.
