Ingredients
- 1 (9 3/8 inch) deep-dish unbaked pie shells (extra large)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 lb bacon
- 3/4 cup swiss cheese, shredded
- 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 1/2 cups half-and-half
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 5 large eggs
Recipe
- 1 in a preheated 425-degree oven, bake the pie shell for about 8 minutes. after removing the shell from the oven, flatten the bottom with a spatula or fork.
- 2 combine the chopped onion and uncooked bacon in a large skillet. cook over medium heat until bacon is crisp. on a plate lined with paper towels, drain the bacon and onions. when cool, crumble the bacon into small pieces. sprinkle the bacon and onions over the bottom of the pie shell.
- 3 combine the swiss, cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses in a bowl. cover the bacon mixture with the cheese.
- 4 in a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, salt, and pepper. pour the egg mixture over the contents in the pie shell.
- 5 bake in a preheated 375-degree oven for about 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center of quiche comes out clean. serve in slices either hot or warm.
