Chicken Paprikas (chicken And Dumplings)

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 3 lbs chicken pieces (can use more or less)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 brown onion in butter. add paprika, salt, and chicken. cook for 10 minutes.
  • 2 add water and simmer slowly until chicken is tender (i usually let mine simmer about 45 minutes.)
  • 3 meanwhile, prepare the dumplings by combining all ingredients. scrape bits of the sticky dough from a plate into boiling water (or use a dumpling maker if you have one.) cook dumplings for 15 minutes. rinse with cold water and drain.
  • 4 once chicken is tender, remove it and set aside. stir sour cream into the pot, making a thin gravy. add dumplings and then chicken. serve hot.
