Gruyere And Walnut Biscuits

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 225 g gruyere, grated
  • 225 g unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or paprika)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 350 g plain flour, sifted
  • 100 g walnuts, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 in a bowl, cream together teh gruyere and butter.
  • 2 sift the salt cayenne and flour into another bowl, then gradually add the cheese mixture, then nuts and mix well with hands to form a dough.
  • 3 divide the dough into 2 and shape into logs, 4cm ( 1 1/2 inch) in diameter.
  • 4 wrap in plastic wrap and chill1 hour.
  • 5 preheat oven to 180°c.
  • 6 with a sharp knife cut ito 5mm ( 1/4 inch) thick slices. lay on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  • 7 bake 15-20 minutes until lightly brown. transfer to a wire rack to cool, then store in an airtight container.
