Gule Aeter - Danish Pea Soup

Total Time: 1 hr 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups yellow split peas
  • 1 liter water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 g bacon, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 leeks, chopped
  • 3 carrots, peeled & chopped
  • 3 potatoes, peeled & chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 smoked ham hock
  • 125 g vienna sausages, chopped
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 place all the ingredients into a large pot, bring to the boil and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  • 2 remove the hock from the soup and remove the meat from the bone, chop into small pieces and put back into soup.
  • 3 serve.
