Frikadel (dutch Meatloaf)

Total Time: 1 hr 35 mins Preparation Time: 35 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg, to taste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper or 1 teaspoon pepper

Recipe

  • 1 chop potatoes into small (~1inch square) pieces (skin the potatoes, if you wish) and boil until soft.
  • 2 pre-heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  • 3 place in bowl large enough for all ingredients and mash.
  • 4 add all other ingredients and knead with hands until mixed.
  • 5 note: the potatoes will be very hot!
  • 6 you may want to wait a bit for them to cool before using your hands.
  • 7 also, the meats will be very cold on your hands if not taken out of the refrigerator~ an hour ahead of time.
  • 8 mold into an ungreased 9x13x2 pan and bake for 1 hour.
  • 9 loaf will pull away from sides of pan and be surrounded by grease from the meat (more or less depending on the fat content of the meat you used).
  • 10 cut into pieces and enjoy.
